Springtime in Bremen City Park
Winter came late last year and spring was also delayed. Now, when people talk about spring, I would imagine pink cherry blossom trees, blossoming roses and green grasses. While it is true, windy and stormy weather is also typical springtime. In Bremen, where I live, there is a city park and it is a very nice place to take a walk when the trees are green.
Every city in a well developped country usually has its own city park. It is a very good way to have a little bit of nature in your everyday life in the city. In my opinion, gardens and parks have a powerful and unique way to lower stress. Maybe because of the natural green color or refreshing clean air. Nature can be powerful and destructive, but on a normal day in the garden there is just forces of nature that calm your heart and busy mind.
Unfortunately, in the developing country such as Indonesia, nature is often neglected. People are too busy working, they dont care about park and trees anymore. The little bit of land are used to build malls and shopping center and houses. People still prefer to live in houses in the city center. I believe it is much better for people to live in appartments and flat so there can be more land for gardens and parks.
Of course there is also parks in Jakarta and other cities, but it is simply not enough for everyone. The parks is not always safe either. Especially in Jakarta, the people are forced to spend their free time and take a walk in huge shopping malls. This leads to materialistic and hedonic life style most of them cannot afford. The capitalism is also much more apparent in the last 5 years. It is not like strolling in the mall can relieve stress either. You would just be more sad if you find some item you want but cannot buy. It is just my observation, but Indonesia, especially Jakarta needs these beautiful gardens and parks like in Bremen. Unfortunately, the corrupted people in the goverment won’t gain any money if they build parks, they would benefits much more from retributions from the shopping centers and that kinda explain the current sad situation. I am really grateful to live only few minutes away from this beautiful greenery at the moment.
